Urdd 2021

  • Miss Evans

Here is some information on what the Urdd is offering this year.

With current restrictions in place, we’re looking at a period of doing things a little differently, but we’re working hard to provide a valuable and exciting service for your pupils and our members over the next year.

Here’s what’s on:

Sporting activities such as swimming, football and netball clubs are gradually resuming as directed by the Welsh Government. Find out about the activities in your area.

Urdd Eisteddfod and the Arts
There will be plenty of opportunities for members to take part in various arts events whether face to face or virtual. Cefn Llwyfan is a series of digital events giving members the opportunity to get advice from some of the world’s leading experts and big names in the arts, including Bryn Terfel, Mali Ann Rees, Ameer Davies-Rana and more!

Digital activities
With more digital Urdd activities than ever, here’s what’s on:

  • Yr Awr Fawr (The Great Hour) – fun, weekly activities for primary school children.
  • Yr Awr Fawr (D) – friendly sessions for primary aged Welsh learners and second language speakers.
  • Yr Awr Fwy (The BIGGER Hour) – a series of digital events for 12-16 year olds.
  • Cymraeg Bob Dydd (Welsh Everyday) – friendly sessions for 12-16 year old Welsh learners

Digital magazines
All Urdd magazines are free and digital for the next year! Sign up for free to get your copies.

Our Sports, Community and Outdoor officers are working with schools across Wales providing visits and activities during school hours. Get in touch with us about this on cymunedol@urdd.org

Residential centres
Although Llangrannog and Glan-llyn centres are closed to the usual residential visits, they continue to operate as day centres and welcoming families for short breaks.

All the information is on our website, or you can get in touch with the relevant departments if you would like more details. Here’s how to contact us: www.urdd.cymru/en/contact_us/

As you may know, the Urdd is facing a difficult time with huge income cuts and significant debt imposed on us as a result of Covid-19. The organization is losing half the workforce as a result of the cuts, and the challenge is one that the Urdd have never faced before.

At present, over three quarters of our staff are still on Furlough but we are working on a plan to have our new staffing structure in place by November 1st. In the meantime the community team is available to respond to your queries – cymunedol@urdd.org or you can contact the relevant department.

We know this isn’t an easy time for anyone but we look forward to working with you over the next school year.

Best wishes,
Urdd team
